Denver/Eastern Front Range/North Central CO Edition 200111. SCANlist 200201 Volume 15 #1 COPYRIGHT 2002. Updated 1/5/2002 for Denver and the North Eastern Front Range of Colorado. This on-line publication is free of charge. Feel free to pass this on to others. Updates to this publication and additional resources are available from http://www.radiohacker.com Use of this on-line publication for monetary gain or republication for profit without permission is prohibited. Keep it free. Please send all E-Mail correspondence regarding this on-line publication to: scanlist@radiohacker.com Use of this information in the commission of a crime is prohibited and prosecutable by Local, State & Federal Laws. I do not assume responsibility for misuse of this information. Due to the nature of Public Safety Communications frequencies and use are constantly changing therefore we do not assume responsibility for changes, incorrect information and omissions. Use of this list is to enhance one's use of a scanner or wide coverage receiver. At the time of release of this file there are no known mobile scanning laws within the state of Colorado. However due to 'home rule' jurisdiction allowed by the state it would be wise to check on local regulation in your area. I do not encourage anyone to "Chase" calls as you are asking for trouble with law enforcement officials and they will not hesitate to prosecute. SPECIAL NOTE FOR TALK-GROUP LISTINGS Due to the nature of current trunking scanners both GRE/Radioshack and Uniden models accept decimal talk-groups for EDACS systems and are listed as decimal in this publication. Refer to your radio's user manual on how to program decimal talk-groups for uniden 245, uniden 780, Radioshack PRO-2052 and PRO-94 models. Radioshack PRO-92 v1.0 & V 3.2x, PRO-93, PRO-2067 and PRO-2053 manufactured by GRE use Decimal talk-groups only. DIGITAL 800 Agencies listed with "DIGITAL 800" are using Motorola ASTRO digital encoding and are not monitorable with any current scanners available to the public. There are no computer software solutions available at this time either. Information on the Statewide Digital Trunked radio project is available from http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/gss/cits/comm/dtrs/dtrsinde.htm KEY INDEXES AND DEFINITIONS F-# Short for channel . i.e. F-1 is the same as channel 1. ###.#### S Indicates non-repeater use. Both base and mobile stations use the same Frequency Commonly referred to as "Simplex" PD Police Department FD Fire Department FPD Fire Protection District LC## Logical Channel Number for M/A COM EDACS systems LG Local Government. i.e. Public Works, Animal Controletc... IFB Interruptable Feed Back. TV audio feed for reporters. NEWS NOTES FOR THIS EDITION: SHRINKING UPDATES/AGENCIES BS'D: No it's not your imagination the SCANlist size is getting smaller thanks to the migration to Digital 800 in the area. (Despite the bogus claims of life is wonderful with digital trunked radio) Users are quietly (For fear of retaliation) talking about what a POS the technology is. Numerous articles have appeared in print and on-line media about real problems with these systems including the Los Angeles Conventional Digital network and D.C. digital 800 network. Despite real world claims the manufacturer comes up with some of the lamest excuses on the planet and blames end users or the specs set out by the agency buying the system almost every time. If the specs set by the buyer are not proper why in the hell doesn't the manufacturer stand up and say so? Oh yeah forgot money (Comission) takes precedence over safety. Bottom line this technology is STILL not ready for prime time. LATEST SECRET AGENCIES: Say goodbye to: Fort Collins Police, Broomfield Police, North Metro Fire, Poudre Fire Authority (PFA), Colorado Springs Police and Fire, El Paso County Police and some Fire agencies, CSP 3A Weld County, CSP 3C Larimer County, CSP 3B in Morgan County, CSP 1A in Central and Eastern Adams/Arapahoe Counties and CDOT in Boulder/Larimer/Weld counties. STUPID FREQUENCY ALLOCATION TRICKS: Some bright coordinator thought it would be nice to allocate 155.4000 to Rocky Mountain ambulance with a repeater atop Squaw mountain to cover the metro area which also completely trashes Weld County Ambulance and Air Life Greeley communications. As of this edition Rocky Mountain Ambulance is still on the frequency even though the Universal licensing system shows 900 MHz allocations for this company. DIGITAL SCANNER UPDATE: Uniden has announced in a press release of the impending BC250D Hand Held and BC785D desktop/mobile scanner. The catch is having to purchase an add on digital card in order to decode APCO 25 digital transmissions. Release is slated for the end of this year or the first quarter of 2003. Price guestimates are around $800 but since it is not in it's final form I would not consider this price cast in stone however figure that the patent holder for the IMBE vocoder will demand a nice chunk of change for licensing it's use (which increases the cost of the radio). The state has announced that they will update their network to a 9600 Baud control channel protocol. In order to track talk-groups these scanners will need the ability to decode 9600 Baud control data which current trunking scanners do not. This is a developing situation so keep watch at the usual places such as strong signals and the various mailing lists as time goes on. A current listing of known Talk-Groups for the State (6725) and North Colorado (7C0A) digital 800 systems are available at the radiohacker.com website and will be updated on a regular basis. Hopefully this information will become very handy when these scanners are finally released. ADCOM TO GO DIGITAL 800: The long term plan is to have everything dispatched by Adams County Communications switched over within the next year to coincide with completion of their new dispatch center. North Metro fire Is on the state Digital 800 system as of this edition. ADAMS COUNTY SCHOOL DIST 12 REACTIVATES EDACS SYSTEM Adams County School District 12 reactivated their 3 channel EDACS system after the state shut down it's 5 channel metro area EDACS system on December 15th. The 3 channel system is listed as of this edition. Bank on seeing the old 5 channel state system frequencies being added to the state digital 800 network. ------------ ACTION CARE AMBULANCE [MOTOROLA ANALOG 900 MHZ SHARED SMR SYSTEM] 937.0250 937.0750 937.1000 939.7875 939.8500 [AMBULANCE] 1312 Dispatch ADAMS COUNTY COMMUNICATIONS [POLICE] 460.0750 F-1 S.O.
