IFB Interruptable Feed Back. TV audio feed for reporters. NEWS NOTES FOR THIS EDITION: NEW UNIDEN DIGITAL SCANNERS WON'T WORK FOR MOST AREA DIGITAL SYSTEMS! The anxiously awaited digital capable scanners announced in early 2002 by Uniden will NOT work for tracking Talk-Groups on the state digital 800 system and information from a reliable source indicates that the North Colorado network plans to upgrade their system which will also make their system untrackable when they implement it. Why won't it track these systems? Uniden's scanners will not decode the new control channel format that is used on the state's digital 800 network. It's not capable of it and until uniden releases equipment capable of decoding the new control channel format hang on to your cash. Spending almost $700 for a scanner and digital card that is pretty much useless for talk group monitoring makes little sense at this point. As anxious as some people are to be able to hear there neighborhood law enforcement that went the digital route will unfortunately have to wait a bit longer for uniden to get it right. Currently only the Colorado Springs/El Paso County, North Colorado (Loveland, Fort Collins) and XCEL energy (Boulder) digital trunked motorola systems can be tracked by these new scanners. Trackable digital agencies will have known control channels listed followed by known logged talk-groups starting with this edition. Refer to your user guide on how to use "control channel only" trunktracking. NORTH COLORADO UPGRADE MAY MAKE THEIR SYSTEM UNTRACKABLE Some recent information suggests that upgrades to the North Colorado system may include using the APCO 25 ("9600") control channel protocol. If this is the case they would make their system untrackable. DIGITAL 800 Brighton, Commerce City, Northglenn, Thornton Police and Fire along with Greeley Police are now on the State digital 800 Trunked network as of this edition. CHEYENNE FIRE Nextel has shut down their analog Motorola IIi SMR system and the Cheyenne Fire Department is currently using 866.225 as Channel 1 in conventional mode as of this addition. Other 800 frequencies assigned to Cheyenne Fire are also listed.
