SPECIAL NOTE FOR TALK-GROUP LISTINGS Due to the nature of current trunking scanners both GRE/Radioshack and Uniden models accept decimal talk-groups for EDACS systems and are listed as decimal in this publication. Refer to your radio's user manual on how to program decimal talk-groups for uniden 245, uniden 780, Radioshack PRO-2052 and PRO-94 models. Radioshack PRO-92, PRO-92A and PRO-2067 manufactured by GRE use Decimal talk-groups only. DIGITAL 800 Agencies listed with "DIGITAL 800" are using Motorola ASTRO digital encoding and are not monitorable with any current scanners available to the public. NOTES SINCE LAST EDITION: BOULDER COUNTY VHF UPGRADES Boulder County along with the city of Boulder has opted to upgrade their VHF radio systems to narrowband technology. Which is good news for scannist's in the area that they will not have to buy new equipment to hear the area agencies. The only thing that you may notice is the audio level sounds slightly lower than it used to since most scanners are more tailored for a wider bandwith. The SO GREEN channel is setup in a type of "Zone" configuration where it is simulcast on 3 frequencies to cover the county in areas that may suffer signal loss off of the main tower. This is to compensate for some signal reduction in using narrowband transmitters. In the system restructuring the City of Boulder is independent of the SO system and is reflected in this edition. It's good to see some common sense with an agency not hopping on the digital bandwagon. CSP DOUGLAS/JEFFCO 800 CSP 6C Boulder county troopers have tried to migrate to their digital 800 portion of the Douglas/Jeffco ASTRO digital trunking network but appears that it isn't working in the area. They keep reverting back to VHF. Expect to see more sites added to the 15 sites (No joke!) already on the air. I logged sites 14 and 15 in late August and they are so new even the FCC database doesn't show them as this edition was being edited. Despite denials of problems Douglas County has been falling back on the nationwide 800 I-TAC and I-CALL conventional channels (listed under Metro Intersystems in this publication) when they are experiencing system problems. Jeffco has been noted using 155.250 when they are experiencing problems and 155.370 has been reported by several people as a backup for 800 MHz "Dead Zones" full time. BROADCASTING NOTES KXUU 102.1 Licensed to Estes Park with a 220 Watt translator in Boulder signed on 8/27 with a CHR/Hit radio format targeting the Denver Market. KHIH 95.7 on 9/1 Dropped the long standing "Smooth Jazz" format for a CHR/Hit format with pending call sign change. KCKK-FM 104.3 Dropped it's Classic Country format (which remains on KCKK 1600 AM) and appears to be picking up the "Smooth Jazz" format abandoned by KHIH.
